King John orders his knight Dominic Dragon to wed either the widow of a treasonous but now dead baron or their daughter. Though he finds the Ayrdale estate quite enticing, Dominic prefers to remain single, but knows he has no options. However, Dominic is surprised to learn that twin daughters exist. One rips his skin for breathing while the other trembles in fear whenever he exhales. Dominic rejects the mother and the termagant as he figures the meek one would be more malleable and cause the least trouble.
However, Rose tricks Dominic into marrying her, the thorny twin because she would do anything for her sibling Starla, who prefers life in a nunnery. Besides wedding the wild one, Dominic has other troubles to contend with that would destroy a lesser person. There is an expectation of unreasonable levels of loyalty by King John and problems with his mistress and her uncle, but the worst problem for THE DRAGON LORD is he now loves his tricky spouse.
THE DRAGON LORD is an exciting yet humorous medieval romance. The story line is four points taut due to external machinations and six points amusement as Rose always seems to best Dominic who changes from frustration to winks at her actions. New York Times best-selling author Connie Mason shows why she is so highly regarded by fans and reviewers with this robust historical romance that freshens up the overused John scenario with the shrew taming the dragon.
