| Plot Summary of Something Wicked |
"Elfled Malloren, disguised as Lisette, attends a masquerade and sees Fortitude Ware who hates all Mallorens. She overhears him talking of killing the king. Under her disguise, she falls in love with Fort and gets him to confide in her."

" Lady Elfled Malloren, feeling bored and lonely after her twin brother's recent marriage, decides to go the notorious Vauxhall Gardens masquerade with her friend Amanda, whom she is staying with since all of her siblings are out of town. During their adventure though, Amanda and Elf become separated, and Elf, while hiding in the woods from and overzealous suitor, hears a plot of treason to kill the king.
Elf is discovered and runs from one of the conspirators and crashes into longtime family enemy Fort Ware, Earl of Walgrave. She quickly discovers that he does not recognize her in her costume and also discovers he is somehow embroiled in the plot. Elf decides to keep up her masquerade as Lisette to extract more information from Walgrave as well get to know him more intimately (Elf as been half in love with Fort for awhile).
Elf soon learns that Fort is innocent of any wrong doings, but when Fort discovers who "Lisette" is, he becomes angered and vows he never wants to see her again. Elf has to fight for their love, even against Fort himself, as well as dark enemies and overprotective Malloren brothers."
