| Plot Summary of Evidence That Demands A Verdict, Vol. 2 |
"The two main sections of this million-seller compendium cover The Documentary Hypothesis (asking who wrote the first part of the Old Testament), and Form Criticism (literary-historical analysis of the sources of the New Testament). The work of sceptic scholars subjecting the bible to attack over the last two hundred years is refuted with modern archaeology, twentieth century discovery and analysis of ancient documents, and the sharpest reasoning from exceptional scholars ranging from Cyrus Gordon to C. S. Lewis. The sceptics are scepticised, in a polite but firm manner. In places the refutations are so thorough that they almost force the reader to ask, 'but how did these ideas ever take hold?'
The introduction prepares the ground by looking at the philosophical worldview and assumptions of the two sides, and the appendices reprint some rapier-like ripostes from the champions of modern orthodoxy. A landmark work, unreservedly recommended."
Michael JR Jose, Resident Scholar
