"Scientists make a discovery under the ice of Antarctica at a remote ice station. A group of US Marines are sent to secure this object for their country, but they come across other countries who will fight hard to get it for themselves."
Crybbe, Resident Scholar

"A Marine team is sent to an American base in Antartica to recover a lost military weapon. They fight other countries, the French and the British, and even people in there own group to recover the weapon. Shane Schofield, the main character, recovers and destroys the weapon, and also puts an end to the secret American military group that tried to take the lives of his crew during the book. "
Greg Mahler, Resident Scholar

"      Shane Schofield is a leader of an elite United States front line team who ‘stumble' upon a distress signal sent by scientists at a remote ice station in the middle of nowhere. The story begins as scientists discover something buried deep underground in a 100 million-year-old block of ice, something made of metal. They soon require assistance and it turns into a rescue mission when they discover that the divers sent to explore the metallic object in the ice are ripped to pieces by something, something not human. When multiple countries discovered the distress signal they all prepare to 'acquire' this piece of 'advanced technology' through all means possible.
But Shane Schofield and his team are on the scene first. Soon after Shane's team arrives the French come into and they battle it out inside the ice station. After, of course, the 'good guys' win they send a team under the ice through underwater passageways that leads them into the cavern in the ice. They then realize that they will not be alone in the near future and the stories of betrayal begin. Throughout the whole book Schofield and (most of) his crack team are being repeatedly shot at, grenaded, stabbed, punched, kicked betrayed and picked off one-by-one by killer whales.
"

Robert Burrow, Resident Scholar

"Lieutenant Shane Schofield, call sign 'Scarecrow', and his crew of the U.S. Marines elite Recon Unit answer a distress call from an academic observatory, the Wilkes Ice Station on the Antartic Ice Shelf. Orders at first seem clear, to secure the site and its occupants. But quickly conspiracy unfolds as several of the "academics" pull guns out and begin firing at Scarecrow and his Marines.

Scarecrow believes he's fighting the French, as commandos descent upon the station and his crew, however the plot thickens when Scarecrow discovers a mole within his own unit. His memory of a disaster in which another Marine crew, led by a friend of his, are wiped out, helps him to understand that he may be fighting against his own government.

Scarecrow finds himself fighting against members of his own crew and the British SAS, as everyone is trying to get their hands on what appears to be some type of alien spaceship embedded deep within the ice of Wilkes. Scarecrow can't trust the academics, American allies, the British and French, or his own crew, as it seems to be every man for himself in this continous action thriller. "
