Plot Summary of The Madwoman's Underclothes
"A native Australian, educated at Cambridge, Greer is perhaps the most brilliant and iconoclastic of the stars of Second Wave feminism. This book collects her essays from the mid 1960s to 1985 -- on subjects from sex roles to fertility to fashion. Some of the pieces first appeared in highly alternative publications, and feisty young Greer comes across as strongly as in her first, eye-opening book, _The Female Eunuch_, declaring, "I ... find monogamy the most incomprehensible perversion of all," and "A one-night stand can be the most perfect and satisfying sexual encounter of all." But other, later pieces are more measured."
David Loftus, Resident Scholar
