The story is about Andy Sachs and her path in the world of fashion as an entrepreneur with best friend Emily Charlton after a stint in employment, where everything is going right in her life including her work, love and social life, but when her evil former employer comes back into her life everything changes for the worst. Andy Sachs and Emily Charlton are on top of the world with their new high end bridal magazine that is attracting investors and fashion bloggers all over after a stint of employment with Miranda Priestly, fashion icon. Miranda Priestly, who is still the editor in chief at Runway contacts the girls and seeks to buy the magazine. Andy remembers the former employment and does not want to go back to that and refuses. Emily on the other hand, wants to sell it. Emily, Max and Miles go behind Andy's back and sell it having majority shares in the enterprise. Andy finds out and divorces Max while she ends it with Emily and gets a job with New York Magazine. She gives birth to a baby she had with Max and joins a support group. There she finds a woman named Sophie who is cheating on her boy friend that happens to be Andy's ex before Max, Alex. Sophie finds out she knows Alex and ends it with him for fear that Andy already told him the truth. The two reconcile and Emily searches for Andy again because Miranda fired her, which is not surprising. She and Miles by this time had moved to Los Angeles with Miles to become a stylist with the stars. She repeatedly tries to make things right with Andy until she responds in the end.
Best part of story, including ending:
I like the story because it details independence and the value of freedom in the business world as compared to stable employment.
Best scene in story:
I like the scene where Andy was with Sophie in the mom support group and met her boyfriend Alex who she was allegedly cheating on. Sophie realizes that the two of them had history and Andy decides to bite her tongue even though she feels bad for her ex-boyfriend.
Opinion about the main character:
I like that Andy is not able to compromise on her feelings even if all her friends and her fiance are telling her to go against her instinct and maintains her resolve even after they do so.
