| Plot Summary of The Perfect Stranger |
" Faith Merridew is a gentlewoman who has been duped by a man into marrying him, only he is already married with five children. She decides to make her way back to her family from France to England, but she is robbed and set upon by criminals along the way, and finds a knight in shining armor in Nicholas Blacklock. Nicholas is an ex-soldier who is camping out on the French Sand Hills when he is literally tackled by Faith, who is trying to escape persuers.
After Nick saves her, he learns her story and feeling compassion for her, he decides to marry her and save her name. Faith listens to Nick's arguments on why they should marry for convience and agrees, only after she weds him, she decides that should be a couple in truth.
Nick is apprehensive about her being a true wife, for he is on personal mission, but agrees to allow their marriage to be real till they reach Bilboa, Spain. The two fall deeply in love, but Nick knows it will all end, due to a secret illness he is hiding from Faith. "
