| Plot Summary of Lord of Hawkfell Island |
"Rorik is a Viking warrior, Lord of Hawkfell Island, and has been searching for the man who attacked his farmstead and killed his people including his wife and twin babies 2 years ago while he was on a trading trip. He has found his enemies' stronghold and is captured during his own attack. His enemy is gone at the time but he is wounded and nursed back to health by Mirana, the beautiful dark haired half sister of his enemy Einar. She knows nothing of the attack. Einar is in Dublin arranging a marriage for his sister to the King of Ireland, unbeknownst to her. Rorik recovers enough to kidnap Mirana and takes her back to Hawkfell, falls in love with her a marries her. The rest of his family learn of her relationship to Einar and suddenly there are attempts on her life. It is thought that the culprit is Sira, Rorik's cousin, who had planned to marry Rorik herself.
Einar finds HawkfellIsland again and kidnaps Sira and Mirana and takes them back to his stronghold, Clontarf. He must see his sister married to Sitric, King of Ireland, or he and Mirana will be killed. Sitric is a very old man who has been promised by his advisor, Hormonze renewed youth is he marries Mirana. It is marriage to only Mirana that will renew him. He along with Hormonze travel to Clontarf to marry. Rorik travels to Dublin and kidnaps Eze, Hormonze daughter, and takes her to Clontarf to rescue Mirana and Sira. He realizes when he sees Eze why the king must have Mirana and that Hormonze is up to no good.
He rescues Mirana after the wedding but before the wedding night. Sira is left behind as the new Queen of Ireland. The next morning the King is renewed and he and his new queen return to Ireland.
This sounds pretty straight forward, but this book sets up the rest of the series. Subplots include-who is trying to kill Mirana and why. Why is Mirana the only woman the king can marry and how will the marriage renew him, and why is Hormonze so important to the king. Einar is captured and killed by Rorik hand but when they return to Hawkfell Island more attempts are made on Mirana's life. The who and why are still to be answered. Also the importance of Eze is discovered. "
