| Plot Summary of I Remember Running : The Year I Got Everything I Ever Wanted-and ALS |
"Darcy Wakefield was a 33 year old English Professor who was known as a liberal, workaholic, vegetarian who was healthy as could be. The story starts at the end of a relationship that as Darcy looks back wasn't one worth moping over. Darcy decided to pursue the one thing she has always wanted which is a baby. Shortly after she makes this decision she has the following life altering things happen; she meets and falls in love with the love of her life, buys a house and is diagnosed with ALS. ALS also known as Lou Gehrig's disease is a debilitating death sentence. Darcy deals with this diagnosis by applying for disability, leaving her job, becoming pregnant, planning her funeral and writing this book. This book chronicles the 18 month period from when she is diagnosed until a few months after her baby's birth."
