Plot Summary of Latin America: A Concise Interpretive History
"This is a history of all of Latin America (including Brazil, Jamaica, and other non-hispanic countries) from pre-colonial times to the present. Aimed at scholars of this topic of all levels, it offers detailed (though not exhaustive) analysis of major historical events, their causes, and present problems which plague the region. This is not a mere listing of facts, however, but as the title suggests, it is an "interpretive history".

The major topics include: the origins of this multiracial society, colonialism and independence, structure and government of the new nations, the emergence of the modern state and the frustrations of democracy and true economic independence, and the revolutions of Mexico, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Bolivia, and Cuba in the 20th century. "
