| Plot Summary of Further Than Passion |
" Not for a moment did Miss Kate Duncan believe the outrageously expensive love potion was real. Intent upon proving to her cousin, Lady Melanie, that it is indeed a fake, she secretly drinks it late one night, only to find herself immersed in a world of sensation. Wandering through the darkened house, she stumbles upon a most erotic scene. Hiding in the shadows, she watches in fascination as a man and woman make love. Yet as she gazes at the handsome stranger, she cannot help but feel as if her destiny has arrived, as if she has known him all her life, when she has never set foot in London before now. As if in a fantasy it feels as if he is touching and caressing her and not the blonde in his bed. Suddenly Kate awakes, groggy and confused, only to find herself in her own chamber. Could it all have been a dream? But then she feels a strange weight upon her finger, only to find it is his ring.
Marcus Pelham, Earl of Stamford, is having sex with his conniving step-mother, Lady Pamela, when he notices the gorgeous redhead watching him from the shadows of his chamber. Suddenly, he has the strangest sensation as though it is she who should be in his bed, entwined with his body. After a most erotic dream concerning his mystery woman, Marcus is determined to find out just who she is, to explain the remarkable connection he feels for a woman he has never met. But when he finds out she is nothing more than the chaperon of Lady Melanie Lewis, a girl who has been brought to London in hopes of becoming his bride, he will do everything in his power to make the lovely Kate his.
Miserably, Kate soon realizes that she has fallen deeply and irrevocably in love with Marcus, and yet she knows she can never reach above her station by becoming his wife. And yet she cannot stand thought of him marrying her cousin Melanie. And then there is also Lady Regina's fury if she were to ever find out she was playing the wanton with Lord Stamford. Marcus is stunned when Regina presents evidence to show Kate is a thief. Yet, how many times did he find his signet ring in her possession? But as the lies pile up, and he is forced to betroth Melanie to protect his beloved, he realizes something is very wrong. When he finds out his precious Kate has been thrown into Newgate, and that Regina is the true thief, he becomes enraged in his quest to rescue her. Now that Marcus has found the strength to love her, will Kate ever forgive him for his betrayal? Or will he loose the woman who was destined to be his one true love?"
