Plot Summary of Genevieve
"As the novel begins the narrator, a black scientist divulges to the reader that he is having a mind blowing, sexually adventurous affair with his wife's sister. Genevieve Forbes is the wife of the narrator. She is a beautiful, highly intelligent woman, having earned a PhD in business/economics and currently employed in the field of business. Although it is apparent that the narrator loves his wife dearly, he expresses dissatisfaction with the sexual aspects of their marriage. While he craves a more sexual relationship (and expanding their repertoire with other partners), Genevieve seems content with the status quo. When Genevieve's grandmother Willie Esther passes away Genevieve and her husband (the narrator) travel to the Southern town where Genevieve grew up. Genevieve has always been secretive about her past and her humble origins. Her husband has never met her family members nor has Genevieve spoken of them.

When the narrator meets Genevieve's sister Kenya he is shocked at the raw attraction he feels for her. Kenya clearly has issues with Genevieve and feels that her sister thinks she is better than the rest of the family. Before long, Kenya and the narrator are having a wild and passionate affair behind Genevieve's back. As the narrator walks a slippery slope of sexual addiction he is forced to deal with the repercussions of his staggering betrayal. "
