Plot Summary of Baseball Anecdotes
"Baseball Anecdotes
Daniel Okrent and Steve Wulf
356 p.
ISBN 0062732064

From Abner Doubleday and Alexander Joy Cartwright to the error of the century in the 1986 World Series, the history of baseball is filled with fascinating incidents. In this book, Okrent and Wulf have compiled stories about baseball greats and not-so-greats, memorable owners and managers, quotations galore, and bloopers (esp. from the Dodger archive). Feats from Babe Ruth, Gehrig, DiMaggio, Koufax, Jackson, Jackie Robinson, Aaron, Mantle, etc. are highlighted. Reigns of owners like Charles O. Finley and George Steinbrenner are discussed in detail. Casey Stengal's career as a manager fills many pages with commentary and action.

Fans, too, play a role in this book. There was Hilda Chester, the Dodger fan, who passed a note to Leo Durocher in the middle of a game. Also, countless fans who caught balls and ran onto the field in shows of support for their favorite teams.

This book is recommended to any baseball fan who wishes to remember great plays and major disappointments, humorous occurances, and statistics galore."
