Plot Summary of Holy Cow
"The love of Sarah's life is relocated to New Delhi, India, for his job. Though she vowed never to return to India after a horrific backpacking trip in her twenties, Sarah decides to quit her job and move there with him.

Conflict is constant for Sarah. Coming from affluent Sydney, Australia, she finds it difficult to deal with the poverty and desolation of this third world country: beggars dying in the streets, the constant smell of human waste, dead animals and garbage. Even more difficult is her struggle as an athiest in a place where Hindu gods and goddesses are pinups on the streets and icons in taxicabs, Buddhist Monks wander the streets, and Zoroastrians leave their dead out to be carried off by birds.

In this place, Sarah struggles to find personal meaning. She sings and prays to neon godesses, she spends weeks of silence in a Buddhist retreat humming TV songs in her head, and travels the country in search of purpose and beauty. "
