| Plot Summary of Under Alien Stars |
"About ten years have passed since Earth was conquered by the Tsorians, a militaristic alien race. The Tsorians use Earth as a military base from which to defend their empire against the Hykzoi. Jason, a teenager, despises his mother for collaborating with the Tsorians in her job at the aliens' Earth headquarters. He especially resents her apparent closeness with the Tsorian commander. But then Jason discovers that his mother is secretly a Resister—and that she and her colleagues plan to kidnap the Tsorian Commander and ransom him in return for their demands.
Aryl is the adolescent daughter of the Tsorian fleet Commander stationed on Earth. She is homesick and uncomfortable around the primitive humans who seem to either fear or despise her. Even worse, the Tsorian governor over Earth does not approve of her father's friendliness toward the humans—a sentiment Aryl agrees with when it comes to Jason Sikes, the son of one of the headquarters' human employees.
But when the Tsorian governor refuses to adhere to the Resisters' demands and a Hykzoi invasion begins, both Aryl and Jason are forced to work together to rescue Aryl's father and Jason's mother. The two track down the Commander's whereabouts, dodging anti-Tsorian humans and Hykzoi soldiers alike in order to rescue their parents and send Tsorian forces vital information about the Hykzoi invasion. Gradually, Jason and Aryl learn to work together and find out that they and their species may be more similar than first assumed.
