| Plot Summary of Sometimes Madness is Wisdom |
"This excellent biography presents the joys, hopes, and sadness in Zelda Fitzgerald's life. Eclipsed by her husband, F. Scott, Zelda desperately tries to accomplish something significant herself. The biography describes their happy youth, their falling in love, and their happy-go-lucky life style early in their marriage. But things were wrong way deep.
Zelda had a way with words. The author believes F. Scott plagiarized much of Zelda's words. The author thinks F. Scott felt that Zelda had a talent with words but no skill at constructing a novel. F. Scott wanted all Zelda's notes and diaries for his own novels. This was the beginning of trouble for the Fitzgeralds.
Zelda studied ballet, hoping to make a career of dancing, but was never good enough. She had a chance to star, along with F. Scott, in a movie rendition of his "This Side of Paradise," but F. Scott nixed it. Frustrated, and probably having a hereditary weakness, Zelda finally lost her sanity. She spent most of her adult life in mental hospitals. This sobering book gives the reader a very intimate look at the difficult lives of both Zelda and F. Scott.
