| Plot Summary of Distant Lover |
"Tandi grew up without her mother's love and with a father who displayed hostile indifference. Additionally, her father offered no input about the mother she never knew. Because of these elements, Tandi is not an emotionally secure woman.
Tandi strives to share a conventional life with her husband and son. But how do you trust when your life has been founded on lies, evasiveness and non-commitment? Tandi's state is further tested when after thirteen years of marriage, she discovers her husband had an affair; her emotions shut down. Tandi survives for almost three years on a fantasy about a past love, but that fantasy is not enough, she leaves her marriage in search of that past and for answers about her misdirected childhood. Although she vowed to never live in her father's house again, she finds herself and her eleven year old son back in his gloomy environment.
Betrayal by her husband and her best friend catapults Tandi in the wrong direction. She seeks and captures the past love she has been fantasizing about, and simultaneously she learns unbelievable details about her mother and father. She wishes she had left the past in the past. With no one else to blame, Tandi now has to make monumental decisions about her future. "
