This story starts where Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice ends. Darcy and Elizabeth have just been married. Elizabeth soon learns that Darcy married her because he was eager to get her into his bed. He himself is surprised at his lack of restraint when it comes to bedding his new wife.

But married life for the Darcys is not all love and passion.
Elizabeth's family is proving just a big a problem as expected. Elizabeth's younger sister, Lydia, is still a vulgar as ever and Wickham, her unfaithful husband, is still causing problems for the Darcy family by trying to seduce Darcy's sister, Georgiana.

Elizabeth's older sister, Jane, does not find the marriage bed with her husband Bingham as blissful as Elizabeth does with Darcy. Jane loves Bingham but thinks sex is to be endured for the sake of begetting children. Elizabeth worries that this is causing Bingham to look elsewhere for passion. Georgiana is looking for a husband, but she wants a marriage as successful as her brother's. Darcy and Elizabeth must try to resolve all these difficulties, but they have their own worries. And despite all her husband's attentions, Elizabeth shows no signs of producing an heir.
