Plot Summary of Older is Better
"Annaliz Fallon, 79 years old, has had a stroke and is now in a wheel chair in an Assisted Living Facility in her home town of Cameron, Washington. Her daughter, Karen, has kept her secreted from her friends from Mazatlan, Mexico. She hopes her mother will forget John Lambert, a best selling author, who wishes to marry Annaliz and take her back to Mazatlan, to her favorite chair and her beautiful patio. Her daughter has forged her mother's signature on guardianship papers to keep control over her and has spent most of Annaliz' money playing the stock market. In order to again be her own boss, Annaliz has had to take her daughter to court.

John finally locates Annaliz and helps her move from the institution to a hotel. Since he is gone much of the time to speak on talk shows, Annaliz moves into a rest home, believing she can help others, and finds she is being helped more than they are. The wisdom of someone her age does help to soften life in an institution. Although she knows bad things happen, she keeps an optimistic attitude, trying to find something fun to do each day. She shows the reader she loves life. "
