"Alan Ginsburg explores his youth and learns about himself. He goes through a coming of age in his early twenties and describes the intimate details of his sex and drug use. In his depiction of his sex and drug use, Ginsburg grows up and learns to accept himself. He is a homosexual and this was a difficult thing for him to accept. His novel ends with self revelation of who he is and an allusion to his future happiness. "
