"Geoffrey Michael Kane, the Earl of Kanewood, is captivated by Rebecca Kingsley, the daughter of a titled innkeeper. Becca's father--having nothing left of his family fortune--promises her to a wealthy old gentleman as a wife. When she turns to Geoffrey for help, his comfort blazes into passion and he must make her his.
But the earl is distrustful in matters of the heart, having been betrayed in the past. The resulting jealousy--and danger tied to the mystery of the earl's missing funds--threatens to tear their marriage asunder.
