| Plot Summary of Cavalry Scout |
"Thomas Mitchem is a member of the United States Cavalry, serving as a scout in an armor batallion's reconniassance platoon. After returning from a mission supporting the eleven year old Operation Enduring Freedom, Thomas and his fellow scouts are deployed to Turkey to face a new enemy.
The Persians have secretly built a modern armored army and have blitzed through thier middle-eastern neighbors in an effort to secure regional power and resources. Part of thier assualt leads them into Turkey, a NATO member and US allie. Thus, Thomas Mitchem and his scout platoon experience the horrors of high intensity warfare.
What makes Cavalry Scout different from other war experiences is the reason Thomas Mitchem has to tell his story. Faced with the complex emotions and moral conflicts of having experienced violence and death on the ultimate scale, he finds his relationship with Jessica faultering under the strain of his termoil.
