| Plot Summary of The Edge of Town |
"Julie Jones is a nineteen-year-old woman taking care of her father and five younger siblings four years after their mother died. She has a difficult life trying to raise a family by herself, and it is made even more difficult with the arrival of a young flapper named Birdie who is doing her best to seduce Jethro, Julie's father, and is succeeding in her efforts. When Evan Johnson returns from his service in World War I and goes home to live with his father on their farm next to the Jones', he and Julie quickly fall in love. But a series of mysterious events threaten their hopes of a future life together, and Julie is afraid to share her horrible secret with Evan. This is another wonderful book by Dorothy Garlock that will keep you on the edge of your seat the entire way through!"
