| Plot Summary of Cropper's Cabin |
"CROPPER'S CABIN is a novel written by Jim Thompson in 1952.
Oklahoma. Tommy Carver is 19 years old and lives with his no-good father and Mary, a prostitute his father brought home one day in order to have someone taking care of him. Tommy has a love affair with the half-breed indian daughter of the rich landowner who rents land acres to his father. The young boy does have a dream : to study and to leave his father impregnated with racist clichés. One night, Mr. Bienvenu, his girlfriend's father, is murdered and Tommy is arrested as he just had a violent fight with him the day before. Tommy's father doesn't help him to prove he didn't leave home that night. Tommy is condemned to spend 20 years in prison. Will he be able to prove his innocence, recover his girlfriend's love and forgive his father?
Not the best Jim Thompson but still enjoyable."
