This is the fictitious diary of a young teenage girl, who somehow finds herself lost in the world of drugs during the 1960's. She is introduced to LSD during a party where it was slipped into her drink. She loved how the drug made her feel, and was delighted to learn that there were more drugs out there. Every party she went to, she remembers in bits and pieces, but often only remembers the beautiful colours that the drugs brought to her, and sometimes the rapes that occurred when she was in a complete drug haze. Within a few months, she was totally hooked. When she is sober, there are entries in this diary almost daily. When she is on her drugs, there are large gaps missing, and what is there is usually dateless.

She came from a very loving family who tried to help her through these tough times: accepting her back home, helping her try to get over the evil things her ex-druggie friends did to her when she was sober, even arranging meet-ups with her boyfriend. She had a very supportive family which most people could only dream of having.

This book is a journal/diary of a teenage girl. She has a normal life, with a mom, a dad, and a younger brother and sister. She doesn't really fit in all that well at school, but she gets along. Then, her parents buy a new house and she gets to move to a new school. They move over the summer, so she gets to go back and visit her grandparents, back where she used to live. She bumps into one girl she used to know who went to her school, and gets invited to a party. During the party, she ends up taking an LSD and trips. She didn't know it, but the drugs were in the sodas.
While she's at her grandparent's house, she trys more and more new drugs. Then, she finally goes home and swears to herself that she wouldn't do drugs any more. But, she ends up doing them. She meets this girl named Chris, who is a year older then her. Eventually, they run away together. They begin on drugs again, but quit because they didn't have enough money. After finding a good job, but quitting because of the crazy boss, the girls have enough money to open up their own little clothes shop.
The girls get tired of living on their own adn decide to go home. Everything is going well... until one day she gets high and leaves without Chris to a little town on her own and gets very involved with drugs again. A local church helps her contact her parents after about 3 months, and again she goes home. She eventually goes insane and ends up in a mental hospital. She gets out and in the end, she kills herself.

This book stays focused on the life of a fifteen year old drug user. It spans about a year of her life in which she goes from extreme drug addict to attempted suicide to starting to recover. You never get her true name but she starts to hang out with the wrong crowd and gets involved in various types of drugs. She becomes addicted and even runs away to San Francisco, only to get homesick and come home. She tries to get clean after this but eventually relapses and joins her old friends. She eventually does regain her senses and starts to clean up, but her old group of friends try to get her to hang out with them again. She refuses and thats when they start to terrorize her. They drug her on purpose when she is not aware on numerous occassions. The final straw is when she flips out and harms herself and ends up in the hospital. After this she seems great. Her friends calmed down, she quit drugs and even gets a boyfriend. No body knows why she kept a diary of her everyday events. This diary chronicled her life, and untimately her death.

"Go Ask Alice" is a diary of a teenage middle-class girl. She unknowingly does with LSD at a party. This begins her struggle with drugs. Alice is an anonymous character and the most we know about her is that she is white, middle-class teenager who struggles to fit in at school and to live up to her parents expectations. The book covers roughly two years of her life, beginning just after she turns fifteen and ending after her 17th birthday. Alice experiments with drugs such as LSD and marijuana. She becomes hooked and feels she can no longer survive at home, she just needs to get out.
Alice and a friend runaway to start their own jewelry shop. Although it is a success, it becomes more of a college hang out than a real store. After closing the shop's doors, Alice and her friend fall in to a 'bad crowd' wherein she gets raped and taken advantage of. Alice returns home after not being able to be alone on the road anymore and tries to go back to school. There she is treated as an outcast and has trouble making friends. Her old friends all view her as a tattle tale. Alice needs help refocusing her life and she tries to find that with new friends and her family.

Go Ask Alice is a supposed "diary" of a young girl caught up in the wild life of drug abuse in the late 1960s. This story follows the typical template for the "say no to drugs" genre of liturature. Basically, Alice is a good girl gone bad. She is reaching the gawky teenage years and doesn't seem to fit in with any particular group, so she turns to drugs. She finds herself falling deep into the drug sub-culture and has a hard time finding her way out. Among other adventures, "Alice" runs away from home, ends up on the streets in a few different drug cities of the time, and is constantly falling deeper to her own demise. She is involuntarily drawn into the wild abondon of the drug sub-culture and leads a life of wonton rebellion. Once pulled in, she finds herself drowning; succumbing to peer pressure at every turn. Alice wants to be cool, so she does drugs; Alice wants to rebell, so she does more drugs. "Alice" recovers her good (though now tainted) innocent side a few times throughout the book, but the unadulterated excitement of the drug life pulls her back in time after time.

A normal teenage girl with a lot of self esteem issues quickly turns herself into a druggie. The first time she ever tries anything, it was slipped to her with her knowing anything. Then she wants to try other drugs and seems to be a drug fiend who will take anything. She has small spurts of time where she decides she wants to be clean, but they don't last long. She runs away from home, meets others along the way, is humping around, and just not doing stuff a girl her age should be doing. When she tries her hardest to stay clean, all the old drug crowd won't stop harrassing her...
