The story follows Alaric from his noble Gothic lifestyle through trials and slavery to a satisfactory conclusion. ... Unfortunately other members of his culture betrayed him and sold him into slavery. Wesley Parks, his name in the American society he finds himself in, is a born leader and though his life as a slave is violent and inhumane at times he makes the best of it and survives in his new world.
