Plot Summary of By His Bootstraps
"A grad student despairing over finishing his thesis is drawn into a series of encounters which promises escape from the future career for which he has lost his enthusiasm. He time travels back and forth through a portal from the far future back to his own town in the present, looking for answers. He finally reaches a completely unexpected conclusion which leaves all of our assumptions about causation in ruins."
