Plot Summary of Without Remorse
"Former Navy Seal, John Clark, avenges newly found loved one's death against drug dealers."
Ryan Cluck, Resident Scholar

"John Clark loses his wife and child in a car wreck. He tries to find another woman, but she is killed by criminals. He crusades through the book for revenge, but at the same time tries to serve his country. The end is surprising, but you'll know it if you've read any other Clancy books."
Anthony Selbe, Resident Scholar

"Former Navy Seal takes the law into his own hands. This story clarifies who John Clark is and where he came from as Tom Clancy fills in his main characters in his books. The book is not as technical as his other books so I could not put is down even when I first opened it."
Debbie Parker, Resident Scholar

"Tom Clancy's well made legend John Kelly's history. A story of how his 2nd love was brutally murdered. A story how he became a vigilante, a soldier once more, and the CIA legend John Clark."
Keith C, Resident Scholar

"See why John Clark must live out his life in secrecy within the CIA... This thriller will show you the most chilling account of revenge as the real story behind John Clark is told...Witness a journey into the deepest pits of the human soul, and watch as John Clark tries to find the people who took away his last reason for living..."
Jacob Hurt, Resident Scholar

"Meet the John Clark that you never knew existed. Hear about how he decided to join with the CIA as he secretly takes out a whole gang of drug dealers in revenge of his lover.
And heads back to Vietnam one last time.
Without Remorse depends less on technology and mostly on personal vendetta."

Patrick Harris, Resident Scholar

"Set near the end of the Vietnam war, a US Navy Seal returns home, meets a girl in trouble. He tries to help her but she gets killed, he gets shot. He recovers and hunts down killer. He escapes the police by faking his own death.
He returns to Vietnam and is tasked with acting as a recon trooper for a covert mission to rescue some POWs from a secret VC POW camp for officers."

Oliver Pickett, Resident Scholar

"In Without Remorse, Clancy readers get a first look at John Kelly, whose name is John Clark in the chronologicaly later books. Set during the Vietnam War, Kelly is a retired Navy Chief Bosun's Mate, and an experienced diver and SEAL operative. The loss of a new girlfriend at the beginning of the novel causes Kelly to go on a mission of revenge against the drug "lords" who killed her. He kills several drug dealers, eventually getting enough information to take out the leaders of the drug network. At the same time, Kelly is helping to plan a rescue mission in Vietnam. Unfortunately, the plan is blown by a soviet source inside the White House. At the end of the novel, Kelly is recruited by CIA becuase of his performance on the bothched rescue attempt, and the CIA helps him fake his death to avoid capture by the police for his string of murders. "
Matt Line, Resident Scholar

"What makes the CIA legend John Clark tick? The leader of Rainbow Six, the man CIA calls when jobs need done that nobody can know about, is finally given his due. "Without Remorse" is a look into the dark past of John Kelly. The tragic and accidental death of his pregnant wife sends him into a depression. Then, Pam comes along. She rescues him from the edge, and he almost rescues her. Her past finally catches up with them, and she is brutally raped and murdered.

John Kelly takes a one-man war to the drug dealers and pimps, as only a Navy Seal can do. As if that were not enough, Mr. Kelly is also tasked with a CIA operation to rescue a group of American pilots that are supposed to be dead- but are being held in a prison camp that no one is supposed to know about.

Also included in this book are the first appearances of Admiral Greer and both Jack Ryan, a fresh Marine recruit, and his father. Although this is not as technical as most of Clancy's other books, it is an absolutely amazing background story to one of his most interesting, and least known, characters. I could not put it down."

Chris Ward, Resident Scholar

"After the death of his wife, in a car accident, John Kelly, 6 months after the unfortunate accident befriends a prostitute, Pamela Madden. As time goes by, the two are drawn closer to each other, and they're relationship forms into love. This forces Pam (Pamela) to tell John about her past and what she really is. Pam was a prostitute who was beaten everyday and forced to cooperate with her sadist via drugs. Not only that, there are other girls like Pam who is forced to work for the sadists. If one of the prostitutes try to escape, then Billy or Tucker's, the two evil as well as cruel men, kill them in the most horrific fashion, and make an example of the corpse by revealing it to the girls.
After weeks of rehab, Pam is back to normal, and John Kelly promises that he will get all the girls out. When they approach the neighbourhood, where Pam was mistreated, they are immediately spotted by one of the pimps. After a long chase, John and Pam are beat, resulting in the death of Pam, and serious injury to John. Of course Pam is used as an example so the rest of the girls don't even get the thought of escaping.
After John recovers, he finds out about Pam's murder. Out of rage, he seeks revenge, and has made a mission for himself. He plans to rescue all of the prostitutes, finish off all of the drug dealers and stop their main business, which is basically the sale of drugs. One by one, John finishes off the dealers; however, before he gets the big players, he must do a mission for the Navy as a civilian.
John Kelly is needed to rescue American pilots who are supposedly held in a Vietnamese prison as POW (prisoners of war). The Americans gathered the intelligence via the photo of one of their pilots, caught and in handcuffs. There is also a possibility of a Russian General, Grishanov, who is obviously in Vietnam to interrogate the American prisoners, in order to gain the knowledge of their military strategies. It's up to John Kelly to rescue the American prisoners.
