Plot Summary of Hidden Jewel
"Pearl is the daughter of Ruby and Beau of the first three books of the series. Now 18, Pearl wants to become a doctor. The summer before college, one of her twin brothers is killed in an accident, and the other falls ill due to depression. Convinced that she is to blame, Ruby runs away. Pearl chases her to the bayou to find her and bring her back."
