| Plot Summary of Death of a Hussy |
"
In “Death of a Hussy,” M.C. Beaton returns to her formula for success. Her Hamish
Macbeth series is popular one and a delight to read. Maggie is a hussy--there's no doubt
about it! What a middle age tart she is! However, things aren't so funny when her car
catches fire--with Maggie in it! As usual, there are lots of suspects, and the local bobby
(Macbeth) naturally is on hand to investigate. And, as usual, it takes Macbeth, with his
slow--some would say stubborn--ways, he arrives at the conclusion, in true Beaton style.
One expects to wade through all the usual suspects (and red herrings) of a Beaton work
and this is no exception. Beaton also treats us to some excellent local color (her series is set
in the Scottish Highlands village of Lochdubh).
