"HILL GIRL is the first novel of Charles Williams published in 1951.
Bob is 22 years old and has just come back home after an unsuccessful attempt in the boxing business. Meanwhile, his brother Lee has married his long-time girlfriend, and the Major, the brothers's father, has died. Bob is a farmer at heart and decides to live in his grandfather's farm. Always close to his brother Lee, he's sad and worried when he learns that Lee is cheating on his wife and is obsessed with Angelina, an 18 years old girl, living in the hills with her family. Angelina is not in love with Lee but is sees this relationship a way to escape her brutal father. When Lee is almost caught by Angelina's father, Bob, in order to save his brother's life, sacrifices himself by accepting to marry Angelina. During their honeymoon, the young people learn to know each other and finally discover that they're in love.
But Lee is still obsessed by Angelina, his wife has left him and he's drunk all day long. He begins to visit her secretly, creating an uneasy situation for the young bride. When Bob learns about it, he will have to confront his own brother."
