Hiking in Murren
Murren is not actually spelled Murren, the u in Murren has some silly dots over it, maybe that makes the Mu in Murren sound like a "Moo" sound, I don't know.
Murren is on a shelf about halfway up a mountain called the Schilthorn. It's a somewhat cute looking town with views of the Lauterbrunnen valley and
surrounding mountains.
To get to Murren, take a cablecar up from Lauterbrunnen. From there you can take a train to Murren, but the hour walk is on level ground and is quite nice--you go through beautiful evergreen forests and little valleys.
Once you get to Murren you can go even higher, taking a funicular up to a place called Allmenhubel,
a beatiful green hill with views of the surrounding mountains. From there you can go down to Murren and then further down to Gimmelwald, a small village on the edge of the shelf which is very nice, the houses all have a lot of flowers on them and the town has quite a bucolic feel to it.
To get back you can take a cablecar down to the valley to stechelberg (and a bus to Lauterbrunnen) or take a cablecar up to Murren and go back the way you came. A word of caution about Allmenhubel, many of the paths going down are quite steep so try to stick to the road if you can.
This is a bright green valley called the Blumental which you can see going down from Allmenhubel (the cc station above Murren).
