Wengen is a shelf halfway up a mountaintop (the top is Mannlichen) and it affords tremendous views of the Lauterbrunnen valley and the surrounding mountains.
It has beautiful evergreen forests and lush green valleys. The town of Wengen is also very
beautiful and fancy-touristy, but in a very nice way.
A great hike is to take a cablecar up to Mannlichen (starting at either Grindelwald or Wengen), walking east to a pass called Kleiner SCheidegg (which affords you great views of the Eiger, Monch, and Jungfrau), and from Kleiner Scheidegg taking one railway stop up to Enstlegenalp, then walking down from there to Murren. A five star hike, it's all level or downhill walking. Incredible sights, though the path is somewhat close to the edge from Mannlichen to Kleiner Scheidegg. (Mannlichen is also incredible--a narrow strip of land at the top where cows graze.)
