Hiking in Alpe de Siusi and Val Gardena Italy
In the Dolomites of Italy not far from a town called Bolzano is a large, elevated plateau surrounded by mountains
called the Aple de Siusi. Unfortunately, it only appears flat, it actually has a significant amount of ups and downs. If you're still
game for it, you can take a cablecar up from a town called Ortisei to get there. Be warned, however that the cable car drops you off on
an elevated portion of the plateau, and you'd have steep uphill walking to get back to it. Farther (and lower) down in the valley is another
cablecar which can take you down to lower altitudes.
Another place to hike is called Val Gardenia, it is a gentle downhill slope I highly recommend. You can take a
cablecar to the top from Ortisei and walk down.
This photo and the one below it were very cool because there was an enormous storm brewing and very dark black clouds above me.
But some sunlight was still getting in where I was, so you can see the area around me, close to an enormous ledge, was illuminated, while the rest of the horizon far below and away was in shadow.
