Hiking in Engelberg and Meiringin
Hiking in Engelberg and Meiringin
Engelberg, in central Switzerland, has some ok hiking. You can take a cablecar up to a mountain stop
called Furenalp, and walk down back to a valley to Engelberg. You can also take a cc up to a mountainous lake
called the Trubsee, and walk down from there. There's nothing particularly wrong with either of these hikes, but
somehow the views are not as impressive as they are in a place like Grindelwald. Maybe because the mountains were
kind of wrinkled and black.
Furenalp.
Also Furenalp.
The valley just below the trubsee had a lot of nice wildflowers.
Also in central Switzerland is a town called Meiringen, not far from Grindelwald. A cablecar goes up to a place
called Magisalp, and the walk down from there can be quite nice, with giant evergreens and rolling hills. (Note, do not walk all the way to the bottom, it gets steeper as you go.).
