This book is about Henry who is an American bomber pilot during WW2; he is in his squadron when they are attacked by a group of Messerschmitt which are German fighter planes. The bombers which are slow cannot outrun the fighters and Henry's plane is shot down. Then a French school teacher who is in the resistance gives him food and helps him to the next post in the French resistance.
