What she sees in that terrible moment begins a chain of discovery that exposes the secret lives of the people closest to her.

Ten months earlier, Meghan's father had suddenly disappeared, presumed to be lost in a tragic accident, where cars, trailer trucks and fuel tankers plunged through the railing into the icy Hudson River. Before his disappearance, Edwin Collins had taken all the cash of his substantial insurance policies. Now in absentia, he becomes the suspect in a brutal murder.

Meghan than decides to pursue the identity of the dead girl, find her murderer, and clear her own father's name.
As she unravels the story, she gets a little to closer to the horrible truth that is very shocking!

Mary Higgins Clark knows how to craft a mystery very well in this story."
