"After X-Wing pilot Corran Horn's wife is kidnapped, he decides to join Luke Skywalker and develope his skills to become a Jedi and find his wife. After his training, he infiltrates the kidnapper's group to set things right and rescue his wife.
All in all a very great story that is set highly around conflicting emotions about how Corran can find his wife without breaching his ethics, his vows, and without turning into a person that he doesn't want to be. Possibly the best and deepest Star Wars book around, and the first to be written exclusively in first person perspective. Remarkably weaved seamlessly with Kevin J. Anderson's Jedi Academy Trilogy even though Michael A. Stackpole had nothing to do with the writing of those books. Not one to miss."

In his search for her, he learns to balance his security force investigative skills with his newly discovered Jedi Powers. He goes from one extreme to the other, trying to find a happy medium, and meets many other expanded universe characters along the way. Story takes place during the Jedi Accademy trilogy, and there are several parallels. Corran Finds in the end not only his wife, but that he is a better pilot and husband by combining his skills."

He feels traumatized and lost and seeks to find her going first to Luke Skywalker's jedi academy and dissapointedly leaving he goes to his grandfather on his homeplanet of Correllia. There he finds the truth about his past and finds that he has been doing the wrong thing trying to be a jedi and that he should have gone to find Mirax as himself, deciding that he must join with the pirate group he believes has his wife he begins to solve the mystery and finds that he needs to balance his life and that he can be both Jedi, Pilot, and protector."
