Plot Summary of Touch Not the Cat

"Bryony's father has died in a mysterious car crash and the mystery deepens with his dying words which refer to a "cat" in connection with the moated house which is their home and now taken over by her twin cousins. All her life, Bryony has "spoken" to a secret "friend" who she now considers her "lover", although she doesn't know who he actually is.
