"The first three chapters of this book take place in the 14th century. This gives you some background on the female lead character, who in the remainder of the book, is a ghost. The main story takes place during the 19th century, when an astronomer buys the supposedly haunted castle. At first, the ghost tries to run him off like she did the last owner. But before long, she no longer wants him to leave."
