"Faith Devlin had been forced from her home when she was fourteen by Gray Roulliard, the son of the man that her mother supposedly ran away with. Twelve years later she's back, having risen from the gutter that had been her childhood and turned herself into a successful business woman. Yet no one wants her there, especially Gray, who has taken over the family business since his father's disappearance. Right from the start he tries to force her out of town, but the woman will not budge. At the same time that he tries to convince her to leave, he tries to convince her to have an affair with him, because even after all these years and an eight year age difference between them, he wants her. Faith resists with everything she has, afraid of the past between them and her new mission. On her return, she learned that Gray's father had never returned home, and yet according to her mother, the two of them haven't seen each other since that last night when they were discovered missing. So Faith sets out to find out what could have happened to Gray's father. Gray finds out, and there's hell to pay . . . in the start of a hot affair that sets everyone on edge. With their affair, the man that had killed Gray's father, his lawyer/friend Alex, comes forward intending to kill Faith. So he tries to burn her house down . . . with Faith and Gray inside. Alex is instead killed by Monica, Gray's sister, whom Alex has been using as a sex substitute for her mother. At last they know what had really happened to Gray's father. With that out of the way, and the love that had grown between them, Gray asks Faith to marry him. She couldn't say anything but yes."
