Given away by their poverty-stricken father while little more than toddlers, their names changed and their locations kept secret, the homeless, teen-age Gilberto undertakes a desperate search for his siblings in an attempt to bring them together again in the United States. Gilberto's story is the universal story of the difficulties, triumphs, and failures experienced by immigrants as they reach for the American dream, but it also tells the story of the importance of dreams for everyone."
