| Plot Summary of Animorphs: The Visitor |
"Rachel and her four friends, Jake, Cassie, Marcos, and Tobias are all Animorphs. They were not always this way and now that they are, they have to keep it secret. Earth is under invasion by a race of parasitic slugs called Yeerks. They take host of all kinds of species all over the galaxy and Earth is a new spot for them. Humans who become host to Yeerks are Controllers. These are usually humans in places of power, influence, or good recruiting grounds. One surviving Andalite was able to teach these five young people how to turn into into any animal they touch. The only limit is that they must change back within two hours or be locked into that animal form for the rest of their lives. One of the five, has already experience this and will never be human again.
Life is going on as it always does for these High School Pals who not only keep a real secret but must always be on alert for new Controllers, battles with the Yeerks, stay alive, and keep their grades up. As if life was not stressful enough, they begin to suspect their High School Principal might be a Controller. But how to discover the truth, how to find out what the Yeerks know about the Animorphs, or do they? The first place they must go is into the house of the Principal and his family. The cat is chosen as the one to duplicate. How does one act like a cat when one never been like. Can Rachel pull it off without being discovered?
Who are the students that have been turn into Controllers? Melissa was Rachel's best friend, until recently. Then suddenly it seems as if she was no longer friendly and avoiding Rachel. Was she now under control too? Or was it something else. Suddenly this is not about people she never really knew being turned into Controllers, but people she saw and knew on a daily basis. The Yeerks were now striking close to home, too close.
A battle is brewing and their lives are again on the line. But this is what they must do, if humanity is to hold on to their own freedom until the Andalite must come from a long ways across space to get to them and that takes time. But can five young people really hold off a fleet of slugs?"
