Plot Summary of Fairest of Them All
"Holly de Chastel is the most beautiful woman in England. Raised mostly by her father, she was pampered and spoiled. She was more a trophy than suitable wife material. Over the years she turned down all suitors wanting to stay with her father. Her father knew it was time for her to marry and as she was not so inclined held a tournament. Her hand in marriage was the prize. Knights from all over England attended and one knight from Wales.

Sir Austyn of Gavenmore could have any woman he wanted. He wanted a homely wife. Generations before the men of his family had learned not to trust beauty. Each had married beautiful women and each had been betrayed, or so he thought. Sir Austyn had won every tournment in which he had participated in the last 5 years.

Holly, disguised as an ugly wench, thinks that no one will fight in the tourney for her hand. She is wrong and Sir Austyn wins, marries her and takes her to his castle in Wales. It is an run down ruin of a castle and the crofters are in bad shape also. Holly learns from the servants how to work. She cleans, gardens, etc to bring the castle back into shape. As she does she and Austyn begin to fall in love.

One day he discovers that she is not physically ugly but instead most beautiful. Just like he ancestors he believes that he has been deceived. How can he ever trust her? He ignores that she has proven herself no longer vain and self serving. He sends her away."
