Plot Summary of The Farmer's Wife
"Kim Luchetti and Brian Riley were high school sweethearts in rural Illinois. Both grew up on large farms.Kim was the youngest of 6 children and the little sister. Brian was an only child. When she was 18 they ran off to elope, returning 3 days later, unmarried, unhappy and changed. The day after they returned Kim ran away. For 8 years neither of them spoke of the incident. Kim never returned.

Then one day John Luchetti, Kim's father, had a heart attack. Her family contacted her and she left her life in Savannah, Ga. to return to her father's side. She discovered that Brian's parents had been killed in an auto accident and went to his farm to see him. When she arrived he was repairing a roof, saw her, and fell to the ground, breaking both wrists. He couldn't work the farm and Kim moved in to help.

They had never stopped loving each other and the secret they shared stood between them. Kim began to understand the family she had never felt a part of and began to help them mend the fences and take chances on communicating with each other. All the while she and Brian spoke more and more about the past few years and finally started facing the truth of their shared secret.

About half way thru the book the reader will realize why they tried to elope and how the choosing not to share their secret with their families almost destroyed both of them. In the end Kim has to take a chance on facing her fears and believing that Brian's love will help her heal and that her love for him will help him heal."
