| Plot Summary of Pleasure for Pleasure |
" Lady Josie Essex is the youngest sister of the four infamous sister who have come from Scotland to take London by storm. Josie first season on the market has been a tremendous failure since a unfriendly foe has dubbed her the "Scottish Sausage", thus making her a social outcast at every ball. Josie herself has a very low self esteem, since she is a little curvier that her slender sisters, to make up for her weight, she has confined herself into "the corset" a contraption that makes her body appear more slender, but enhancing the stuffed sausage effect in her ballgowns.
Garrett Langham, the Earl of Mayne, has been a longtime friend to the Essex sisters. He is hopelessy in love with Sophie, a French Emigree, so when he discovers Josie crying alone on a balcony, he decides to take her to his home and help her out. Mayne manages to convince Josie to discard the corset and visit a new dressmaker. He also teaches her how to walk more womanly, and to achieve this he kisses her passionately.
Josie takes Mayne's advice and is transformed into a sensual creature in society, but their is a bitter man who holds a grudge against her. As Josie begins to finally collect suitors, Mayne finds himself growing bored with Sophie and intrigued by Josie's transformation. Josie cannot stop thinking about Mayne's kiss, but feels that her love is not good enough for such a handsome rake.
As Mayne's engagement comes to an end, he finds Josie in a state of distress as she has been attacked by a persistant suitor, and decides to marry Josie himself. As the couple marry, Josie's love grows for Mayne and he discovers that the wonderful passion they share maybe something more to him also."
