Plot Summary of Body of Evidence
"Emma Lachance is quietly living her life in Pointe Judah, Louisiana when she runs into her old high school crush, Finn Duhon. Emma is out taking a run when Finn drives by, recognizes Emma and initiates a conversation. While Emma and Finn are playing catch up, they stumble upon the murdered body of one of Pointe Judah's citizens, Denise Steen. Emma is distraught, not only because of seeing a dead body, but based on her friendship with Denise. Emma, along with Denise, belongs to a woman's empowerment group called Secrets. Although a large number of men in Pointe Judah depise the group, all of its members enjoy the female bonding and their chance to speak their minds openly amongst friends. Emma immediately wonders if Denise's membership in the club and her outspoken newspaper exposes may have led to her murder. Finn, a former Special ops agent, finds himself embroiled in the mystery when he appoints himself as Emma's protector. Finn finds himself wildy attracted to Emma, despite the fact that she has been married for some time to Mayor Orville Lachance. Finn suspects that Emma's marriage to Orville is less than sunny. Secretly, Emma is planning her escape from her abusive marriage to Orville, who is physicall and mentally abusive to Emma. At times Emma has been a virtual prisoner in her home. Due to Orville's influence in Pointe Judah, Emma has bided her time in leaving her husband. On the heels of Denise's murder Emma finds herself being stalked by a mysterious man in a white Stetson who vows to deliver her from her abusive husband and warns her against trusting Finn. Although Finn wants to play the role of Emma's protector, Emma is uncomfortable with the fact that she is wildly attracted to him and unsure of his trustworthiness. As danger swirls around Emma she finds herself leaning on Finn in order to catch a killer."
