Plot Summary of Pride and Petticoats
"    Alfred, Lord Dewhurst, is a man close to achieving his mission to find an American born spy named Cade Pettigru. On the night they raid his office, he manages to elude them but leaves behind a key to luring him out, Charlotte Burton, Cade's childhood family friend. In order to lure out Cade, Alfred and his fellow spy friends decide the best way is for him to pretend he is married to Charlotte, so Cade will have the incentive to retrieve Charlotte and any state secrets she may have gathered from her "husband".
Charlotte and her maid,Addy, have travelled from Charleston to find Cade and see if he can help her from the dire straits she finds herself in since the death of her family. When she arrives, she only manages to exchange greeting with Cade before they are raided. When the British spies propose their scheme, she goes along with, not believing Cade is a spy and hoping to clear his name.
As they begin their marital charade, Freddie and Charlotte begin to fall in love for one another, but that love is tainted by Charlotte's bias against the British as well as the Cade issue. As they begin to close in on Cade, Charlotte realizes that Cade is not the friend she thought he was, but she fears it too late for Alfred to love and trust her. Together, they must fight Cade's treachery as well their own misgivings if they want to make their false marriage a true one."
