Plot Summary of The Bachelor Trap
"Edwina Gunn entrusted Brand Hamilton the mystery of the disappearance of her youngest sister, Hannah. She believed that she had been murdered. When Edwina was murdered, Brand Hamilton wasted no time in solving the mystery. Edwina had been a surrogate mother to him and now she has trusted him the care of her nieces Marion, Emily and Pheobe. At first Brand thought that Edwina was just imagining the threat to her life. But after her funeral, he found out that Marion had been experiencing similar threats although she refused to confide in him. Brand was instantly attracted to Marion and he felt protective towards her. Publicly, the society thought them engaged especially after kissing her in public. But Marion felt dislike for Brand and Brand was in no hurry to get himself shackled. When Marion had been attacked in her cottage, Brand decided to move the sisters to his house where his grandmother could chaperon them and he could keep his eyes on them. Brand proposed that they pretend to become engaged so that they could work together on the mystery surrounding Hannah. They agreed that in solving the case would lead them to the person who wanted to hurt Marion. Marion was thought to be the only witness to Hannah's mysterious disappearance when she was a child. But Marion has other problems when her former fiancée found her and blackmailed her again regarding her parents' wedlock and her and her siblings' illegitimacy. She decided to cut off ties with Brand for it would ruin his chances of winning the election when he would be associated with her illegitimacy. Brand however found out and believed that her former fiancée was lying and decided to find the proof of her parents' marriage. With Marion's hesitancy, Brand feared that he would lose her if he didn't do anything to stop her. So he told Marion they would marry. Seeing that Brand didn't mind her background, she married him. However the threat to her life was not over yet. Someone wanted her dead so that Hannah's story wouldn't be revealed. And as Brand slowly put all the pieces back surrounding the case, Marion got herself captured. Brand was frantic to find out the murderer before he could harm Marion. "
