"Each Parl is the 12th entry into the Harry Bosch series. This opens up in 1993 where the case of a missing equestrian, Marie Gesto. Bosch suspects the son of a rich oil man named Anthony Garland, but comes up short in finding any evidence to link him to the crime. The case woukld hautn him from then on. The book then flashes forward to present day. Bosche recieves a request from Freddy Olivas for the Gesto case files. Olivas is the lead investigator on the Raynard Waits case. Waits was pulled over in Echo Park and the the body parts of two femnalke victimes were found in garbage backs inside his van. Waits will plea to eleven murders, including Marie Gesto in an effort to avoid death by lethal injection. Accompanied by Olivas and lead prosecutor Rick O'Shea, Waits starts talking but Bosch's gut instinct tells him that Waits is not believable. So they all agree to take Waits on a field trip to show where the remains of Gesto are. This is when the plot explodes. At the insistence opf his lawyer, the cuffs are taken off Waits and manges to escape by grabbing Olivas gun, killing him and shooting Kiz Ryder in the process. But Harry is worried about saving Kiz. he staunches the blood and calls for a helicopter to air lift her out. Bosch is then decalred inactive as internal affairs figures out what went wrong at the scene, but that doesnt stop Harry Bosch. He then sets out on his own to find Raynard Waits in what becomes is an exceptional thrilling story that combines mystery, suspense, and the unraveling of local politics."
